DRUG STORE ROMEOS JIM, LET'S PLAY

Fleet ex-pats Drug Store Romeos have so far dazzled us with their whimsical musical musings. Back with a fourth single, the sweetly titled 'Jim Let's Play' follows a string of brilliantly beguiling tunes from 2019's 'Now You're Moving' to more recent offerings 'Frame of Reference' and 'Quotations For Locations'. Set over softly played acoustic drums, extraterrestrial synth textures, reminiscent of Broadcast, hover over a post-punk-inspired bass line as vocalist Sarah Downie's aurally pleasing vocals caress your eardrums. The band explained via Facebook: "This song was made at a turning point a couple of years ago when we started shaping our old guitar and reverb heavy dream pop sound, into a more minimal playground of synthesisers and dry upfront vocals. We were improvising with the cut-up method in my bedroom when, all at once the words ‘Jim’ and ’Lets play’ jumped out of the cut out word sheet onto a melody that caught it in the air!"
